Foundations Family Childcare
Preschool
Preschool is typically offered to children ages 2 and older. The preschool curriculum is research-based and designed to meet the Colorado Early Learning & Development Guidelines. The curriculum encompasses all learning areas physical, language, cognitive, social and emotional.

Preschool is often looked at as just academic kindergarten readiness. Preschool is actual our entire day. To enter kindergarten prepared, a child needs more than academic skills. They need to have the skills function independently. Being able to get their shoes on and wash their hands independently is big deal. Learning basic skills helps build a solid foundation that will be used to build on in kindergarten.

We spend much of our day in child-led activities. Activities that are child-led and driven require skills children need to be successful into adulthood. Skills like project management, conflict resolution, assertiveness, negotiation, cooperation, building friendships, and many more are learned during this time.

***Foundations Family Childcare is a participating program in UPK. If your child is 4 by October 1st in the year before they enter kindergarten, they are eligible for 15 hours of free preschool. You will be responsible for the wrap around care rate. FFC will meet all teacher, program qualifications and curriculum requirements set forth by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.
Teaching Philosophy
Foundations Family Childcare focuses on creating a mix-aged, family-like environment where children can form meaningful connections with their peers, fostering lasting relationships. My approach encompasses the growth of children in multiple developmental domains, including cognitive, physical, social and emotional, and gross and fine motor skills. Establishing a sense of love and belonging is crucial, allowing children to develop friendships, and a sense of connection. All of these foundational elements are essential before learning can take place. Foundations Family Childcare believes that children learn best through freely exploring their environment and engaging in child-led activities. This approach encourages movement, boosts self-confidence, promotes risk-taking, and allows children to develop their language, math, science and social-emotional skills. Being socially and emotionally ready for kindergarten is seen as a vital skill for a child's overall development, as they learn important life skills like cooperation, delegation, negotiation, integrity, and listening to peers. Play is an essential part of my program.
